Filled with thrilling buckets was the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall as the Guyana Basketball Federation One Guyana Premier Basketball League on Saturday as University of Guyana Trojans,Wortmanville Pacesetters and Black Mambas attained contrasting victory.
Black Mambas, looking to get back to winning ways, kicked off the proceedings battling East Coast All-stars who are in search for their first points which saw at the first quarter Mambas leading with the score 19-7.
The dominance from the Mambas as they extended their lead piercing the All-stars defense is the Mambas put up 21 points while the All-stars were limited to 11 points with the scoreline highlighting 40-18.
Momentum continued for the Mambas as despite the quarter being low-scored they still had a grip on the lead as they swished 13 points and the All-stars scoring another 11 points with a score 53 – 24.
Black Mambas went all out in the fourth quarter as they secured their third victory with the score 62-38 over East Coast All-stars which saw Mambas Jonathon Pooron top scorer with 18 points.
Coming back from a Previous loss against Jets as University of Guyana Trojans looking to register points as they shared the court with Panthers who are yet to attain points as the Trojans wasted no time to separate from the opposition as they mustered a 10-8 lead.
The game looked to be closely contested in the second quarter, but it was the Trojans once again maintain the lead, netting 13 points while the Panthers were limited to 9 as the scoreboard illustrated 23-17 heading into the second half.
Tensions rose in the third quarter as the quarter saw buckets swishing from both sides of the quarter as the Trojans put up 22 points followed by Panthers swishing 17 points with the score 45 -34.
University of Guyana Trojans went on to bag their fifth win extending the Panthers losing streak with the score 55-46 as Trojans Malachi Grimmond stepped up leading the scoring with 11 points.
The final game of the night saw Pacesetters once again finding themselves on the winning side of the stick as they attained a blowout victory of 101 – 53 victories with the Pacessters top-scorer being Tafawa Daley swishing 27 points.
