With a packed crowd at the National Training Centre two nail- biting games got underway with Slingers FC and Santos FC Walking away with victories in the Guyana Football Federation Elite League on Sunday.

Den Amstel FC eager to continue in their winning form come against a young and dangerous Santos as the game started with both teams sharing possessions of the ball but it would be Deon Alfred firing the opening goal for Den Amstel in the 17’.

A defensive error for Den Amstel proved to be critical resulting in a kick from the spot in the 31’ as Akill Plass left not stone untouched as he scored which would see the teams level at one- goal each at the half.

With the Santos looking to make a statement in the second half as Shem James would put his team up with a goal in the 77’ as they registered three points with the sore 2-1.

Anticipating matchup of the night saw unbeaten sides Western Tigers and Slingers sharing the field as the game intensified from the jump as the Slingers manage to limit the dangerous Simeon Moore as their offensive unit made a mess of Western Tigers as Kemar Beckford would his team a 1-0 advantage in the first half.

With the second half in play  the Western Tigers looked to penetrate the Slingers defensive but failed to seal their chances while on their side of the field Slingers wasted no time with the Tiki-taka play from Derron Niles assisted Kemar Beckord with his double In the 54’ and a few minutes later Leo Lovell found his way to the scorecard as he scored a banger in the 68’.

With the game near competition a header from Joshua Browne would seal the consolation goal for Western Tigers in the 90’ + 5’ as it was a little to late as Slingers bagged a 3-1 win.
