Blucher among gold medal recipients on Day two Spectacular Display of Determination as the nation’s Top Students athletes glorified at the National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships 2025 in the morning session at the Leonora Track and Field Championships.
Akila Blucher (5:21.02s) of Christianburg Wismer Secondary won the girls’ under-20 1500m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Blucher was followed by Marissa Thomas (5:37.01s) of Buxton Secondary and Vannytta Francis (5:41.67s) of Mararunau Secondary.
Ester McKinnon (5:18.40s) of Uitvlught Secondary won the girls under-17 1500m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
McKinnon was followed by Adanya Glen (5:42.15s) of North Georgetown Secondary and Vanessa Francis (5:54.39s) of Mararunau Secondary.
Afi Blair achieved his ultimatum by defeating rival Kaidon Persaud to cop the boys’ under-20 400m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Blair, a student of the Government Technical Institute, clocked 48.82s to pip Persaud.
Persaud, who attends Linden Foundation, had a time of 49.01s, followed by Jomal Kesney (50.50 seconds) of New Amsterdam Secondary.
Kenetha Fraser (1:01.27s) of McKenzie High won the girls’ under-20 400m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Fraser came ahead of Nyosice Wright (1:01.30s) of Vryman’s Erven and Lashanty DeSouza (1:07.60s) of Manchester Secondary on the podium.
Areanna Bart (5:29.70s) of Stewartville Secondary won the girls’ under-15 1500m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Bart was followed by Anya Rose (5:47.91s) of Bladen Hall Secondary and Sonia Simon (6:00.17s) of St. Ignatius Secondary.
Dequan Farrel of McKenzie High won the boys’ under-17 400m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Farrel clocked 48.90s to beat Ade Sealy (48.93s) of Brickdam Secondary and Ackel Henry (51.94s) of Vryman’s Erven to the top spot on the podium.
Kelerah Peters (1:02.39s) of Christianburg Wismar Secondary won the girls’ under-15 400m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships.
Peters was followed by Shania Thompson (1:02.56s) of The Bishops’ High School and Areanna Bart (1:06.53s) of Stewartville Secondary.
Joel Stephen (55.71s) of St. Joseph’s High won the boys’ under-15 400m final at the inaugural National Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships. Stephen was followed by Nehemiah Barton (56.04s) of Leonora Secondary and Shaquil Shepherd (58.07s) of Dolphin Secondary.(MOE)
