The Honourable Hugh Hilton Todd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Sunday, April 13, 2025, opened the 4th Annual Victory Valley Easter Basketball Tournament in Linden, Region 10.
The tournament, featured for the 4th consecutive year, was held at the Victory Valley Basketball Court which was rehabilitated and commissioned in 2021 to serve the youth community of Victory Valley to hone in their basketball skills.
The tournament included participation from 12 teams – two junior teams, 6 male and female teams under 18, and four male and female open teams.The competing teams were all awarded trophies, medals of participation, personal care packages, and other means of support.
The participants expressed their satisfaction with the initiative and efforts undertaken by the government under the leadership of His Excellency President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, to foster youth development in the community.
The initiative was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and supported by the Embassy of the Peopleโs Republic of China in Guyana.
