Two basketball backboards were formally given to the school by G-Boats Inc. on Tuesday. G-Boats Inc. recently replaced the school square, where these will be located. It will soon be designated for volleyball and basketball.
Additionally, four Wilson basketballs were donated to the school by Philip Lewis and other donors.
According to Youth Basketball Guyana, the St. Ignatius basketball program should continue to get assistance as they prepare to compete in the National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) for the first time this year.
The St. Ignatius team is the one that carries the regional advantage. Instead of traveling 10 to 12 hours to Georgetown, they are now more likely to set up friendly games and play against schools in Bomfim, which is only 10 minutes away, and Boa Vista, which is an hour away.
