And what we find out from the record, or the data, is that they had two from St.Stanislaus college , two from St Roses, five from Bishops secondary School, so from that pool of kids, I decided that we should be able to have a school tournament after having such a nursery. So I reached out to different teachers, asked them to supply the academy with students, help them with the fundamentals, so that the team could actually have another school tournament after how many years.”
She went on to expound that this tournament will give selectors the opportunity to select players to Represent the ‘Land of Many Waters’ at international competitions.
“Yeah, it showed me that they’re doing volleyball. Yes, volleyball is still alive in Guyana, most people probably think it’s alive in kicking . And with this now we will be able to at least identify athletes to represent us at IGG, Caribbean Games and these things, and have them coming up in different levels in the next two, three years, once this is continued every two months.”
With the government’s support Davis indicated that they would want to host the Tournament every two months which encourages kid involvement and seeing the standard of Volleyball increasing daily.
