Ahead of the player draft, the six franchise teams that will compete in the eagerly awaited West Indies Breakout League have formally declared their seven protected players.
For the forthcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Breakout T20 League, Quentin Sampson, Adrian Sukhwa, Zeynul Ramsammy, Isai Thorne, and Richie Looknauth have all been selected for the Guyana Rainforest Rangers team.
Following impressive performances at the youth level, Sukhwa, who led the run charts with 241 in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) T20 event last year, and Ramsammy, who excelled with both bat and ball in the same competition, have received their first calls-ups to the senior national franchise system.
The other Guyanese players have previously represented Guyana in the 50-over or Four-Day format.
Moreso, left-arm pacer Jediah Blades and wicketkeeper-batsman Rivaldo Clarke, both from Barbados, are Guyana’s two picks outside of home territory.

The six franchises participating in the inaugural Breakout T20 League have finalized their squads following a highly anticipated player draft.
Each team was allowed to protect seven players, with a maximum of three aged 27-29, and then selected the remaining seven (26 or younger) in the draft.
The league emphasizes emerging talent, with players required to have played fewer than 40 List A T20 matches and fewer than 10 international T20s.
Each franchise also had the option to select two players from outside their home territory. Notably, the draft saw 15 teenagers secure spots across the six teams.
The Breakout T20 League will be held from April 25 to May 10, 2025, to showcase the Caribbean’s next generation of cricketers.
All 17 matches will occur at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
The tournament features teams from the six CWI territorial boards: Barbados Pelicans, Guyana Rainforest Rangers, Jamaica Titans, Leeward Islands Thunder, Trinidad & Tobago Legions, and Windward Islands Infernos.
Each team is affiliated with a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise, providing a clear pathway for players to advance their careers.
