A large number of persons recently graduated from Level 1, as the next batch of official cricket scorers, following the end of the one-day course hosted by FL Sport, Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) and the Guyana Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA).
The level one programme was hosted at the National Racquet Centre, Woolford Avenue, on Sunday to a solid turnout of about 40 individuals.
Facilitated under the guidance of John Ramsingh and Dr. Ronaldo McGarrel, attendees learnt the basics of scoring as it relates to signals, fundamentals of cricket and various umpiring techniques among a host of variables associated with the profession.
A thorough breakdown of scoring and the importance of one’s role further embodied core aspects of the programme, with future scorers having left the day’s session full-equipped as it relates to scoring a cricket match.
Meanwhile, head of FL Sport Ramsingh, credited all parties involved for hopping on board the initiative, pointing out that courses such as these will only improve the sport while opening further avenues for persons to be involved in the sport, even while being off the field.(Kaieteur News)
