The Youth Basketball Guyana commenced their 2025 season with the 2025 Challenge Series at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday and Sunday as the series saw a wealthy amount of basketball prospects showcasing their skills.
In the Girls 5-a side Finals St.Stanishlaus Secondary in a tight managed to muster three points which proved to be the much needed decider from their competitors Marian Academy as Oneisha Trotman was the lone-scorer of the game.
The U14 Boys Finals Queen’s College ‘A’ seeming to be on the upward trajectory walked away with a five point victory over St.Roses Secondary with the scorecard reading 11-4 with Queens College ‘A’ Dimitri Singh controlling the game mustering 7 points and 2 rebounds.
The New Amsterdam Secondary School made the long trip worth it as in the U16 Boys they went back with smiling faces as they bagged a 7- 4 victory over Mackenzie with Tyrece Archer making a name for himself contributing 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
Government Technical Institute in the U18 Boys showed their dominance on the court as they recorded a 13 – points victory with a score of 23-10 over St. Rosés Secondary which saw Government Technical Institute Alwyn Adams with 7 points, 3rebounds and 3 steals controlling the court .
A thrilling encounter closed of the tournament in sensational form as in the U21 Boys as Rising Boys achieved championship status in fine form as they muscled their way to a 14-2 victory over St.Stanishlaus Secondary.
The Challenge series saw the participation of 53 teams covering the length and breadth of Guyana as student-athletes engaged in Five – a – side Tournament, three point shootout, Free throw shoutout and Skills combined.
