Five ranks from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) were among a seven-member team that delivered an exceptional performance at the 7th Annual Korean International Martial Arts Championship, held on March 30, 2025, at the Guyana National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

Trained by renowned martial arts instructor Mr Troy Bobb, the team proudly represented the GPF, securing an impressive 15 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and a first-place trophy in the Team Kata category.

The tournament featured fierce competition among various organisations, including the Korean International Martial Arts Championship, Best of the Best Martial Arts Club, Black Ark Martial Arts, Temporary Martial Arts Club, Shotokan Karate Club, and Peaceful Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago. Participants competed in several disciplines, such as traditional kata, weapon kata, point sparring, team kata, and self-defence.

Following their outstanding performance, the team paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Police, Mr Clifton Hicken, who congratulated them on their success. In his remarks, the Commissioner stated, โ€œEvery time you gain exposure, the Guyana Police Force moves to the next level.โ€

He also emphasised the importance of maintaining professionalism, noting that how ranks conduct themselves reflects not only on their character but also on the reputation of the Force.
