The Guyana Police Forceโs Officers Cricket Team on Thursday, April 10, 2025 defeated a formidable team from the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) in a friendly T20 matchup played at the Police Sports Club Ground.
The Officers team led by captain, Ronald Ali after winning the toss today, opted to bat first and set an imposing total of 205 runs all out after 19 overs from their 20 overs. Troy Benn, the top scorer, dominated with the bat, scoring an impressive 85 runs. His efforts was supported by Raheem Haynes, who came in and hit a flurry of 6โs and 4โs, adding to the mammoth total set.
With top performances from the Benn brothers (Troy and Trevor), the Officersโ managed to subdue the GGMC team who showed some promise, but were unable to match the momentum of the game. Crumbling under pressure, they were unable to meet the target and were all bowled out in the 18th over of the second innings for 196.
With 17 runs needed from 12 deliveries, Trevor Benn who bowled the penultimate over, missed with the first ball bowling a wide down the leg side that raced away to the boundary. He quickly redeemed himself, picking up a hat-trick of wickets that ended the GGMCโs batting line-up, ultimately securing the win for his team.
All-rounder, Troy Benn carted off the Man of the Match and Best Batsman awards with his blistering innings of 85 runs and 2 wickets.
Trevor Benn received the Best Bowler award for picking four wickets in total, which included the hat trick in the 18th over.
