The Berbice stage of the Cheddi Jagan Memorial Cycle Road Race was won on Sunday by British rider John of the United We Stand Cycle Club, who cut forty-three minutes off the clock.
In two hours, thirty-two minutes, and thirty-seven seconds (2:32:37), John finished the event. In comparison, he was the first to cross the finish line in 2024 with a time of 3:15:10 and in 2023 with a time of 3:03:35.
The race started outside the New Amsterdam office of the People’s Progressive Party, pedaled up the Corentyne, turned around near Number 63 Village, and ended in Port Mourant.

Having not been among the first group to split out from the race, John took advantage of the Canje Bridge’s incline to catch up to the three leaders.
As the cyclists neared the turnback point, John, Christopher Griffith, and Jamal John took the lead, but the quartet maintained the lead for the majority of the wind-driven pedaling.

Briton was forced to get out of his seat as the two riders raced to the finish line after Phillip Clark, who was leading the pack about eight minutes back, broke away from them and pedaled his way to catch the Johns.

Griffith, Sequn Sandy, and Alexander Leung were in that order, followed by Clark in second place and Jamal John in third.
Junior Niles was the over-50 champion, and Clark won the open veteran division, followed by Husband and Robin Persaud. He defeated Ian Jackson and Talim Shaw.
Chris Hector won the juvenile division, while Dickwan Rutherford came in second.
